Housekeeping skills: Living in the 'Now'
Most of
our lives are divided into life at home and life at work. When we are at home
we can’t let go of thinking about work and when we are at work we can’t let go
of thinking about home. Its agony, that where ever we are, actually we are not
there. So, to become conscious take a deep breath, look at the color of your
pillow, the ceiling. At office take a good look at the stapler at the corner of
your desk, the painting hanging in front of you, asking you to smile. An eye
for little things makes us conscious, present. Little things should never be
avoided.
The more
organized you are externally, the more it seeps deep within. To become clear,
de clutter, so that you can see the space. So, the first housekeeping skill is being
aware of your breath. The breath comes in and then out. Follow the rhythm. Use
your mind consciously. Keep all your memories neatly folded in the drawers of
your brain, only to be used as a reference, if and when required. Keep in mind,
you are not your mind, you are the housekeeper and the mind is the furniture
lying around. The space in the room is your consciousness. It’s you to decide,
where the sofa will go, which place is for the table. Let go of the items not needed
anymore. Reduce, re use, recycle is the mantra. Don’t clutter your space by
taking in too much like social media, people and places. Become selective.
Start decorating the space within with simplicity, clarity and style.
